We support worthy causes, community groups and individuals with our community giving programme.

Mount Wellington Licensing Trust has been distributing operational profits from its hospitality venues to the local community for 60 years via the Mount Wellington Charitable Trust. The board of Mount Wellington Charitable Trust is comprised of all six Mount Wellington Licensing Trust trustees along with up to three independent directors. 

MWCT distributions are reliant solely on profits generated by Mount Wellington Trust Hotels’ businesses, all of which operate in the hospitality sector. With the Trust’s businesses severely impacted by the pandemic and with a challenging outlook ahead, there were limited grants made by MWCT in the 2022 financial year.

MWCT will continue to make donations to community initiatives to the extent that funds allow, noting that the organisation is wholly dependent on the performance and profits of MWTH.

Three of our MWLT trustees oversee the distribution of profits from The Lion Foundation gaming machines located in the Corner Bar to local causes.

Senior Citizens

MWLT has been supporting senior citizens with the very well attended Christmas senior lunches. These festive lunches have been a very long standing and popular fixture on our calendar. We were thrilled to welcome our seniors back to Waipuna in 2022!

Lockdown Support

With Auckland in lockdown, it remained important to our Trustees that we continue to support our senior citizens as well as other people in need during the festive season.  In lieu of the 2021 Christmas luncheons the Trust supported the following organisations, all of whom do great work in our local community with $10,000 each: Communicare, Age Concern and Kai Collective.

In our local community, there are people and organisations in need of support. Mount Wellington Charitable Trust is proud to play a part in supporting worthy causes.
